Bicheno, home to Waubs Distillery, has been crowned the number one destination in Australia’s 100 best towns to visit in 2026, Australia’s best town by Australian Traveller.

A national panel of industry experts decided the small coastal town on Tasmania’s east coast should be on top of everyone’s must-visit list this year.

“From Waubs Harbour Distillery crafting whisky out of an old oyster hatchery to new wine bar Le Gulch, set in an old fishing factory, a fresh batch of businesses is bottling its spirit,” said Australian Traveller.

Established in 2018 by Tim, Bec and Rob Polmear, Waubs Harbour distillery is set in an ex-oyster hatchery in Bicheno. Waubs’ distinctive seaside character quickly forged a natural cult following around the nation, with their limited editions selling out quickly and consistently.

The Club’s collaborated twice with the seaside distillery. In 2024, we released the Waubs Harbour Rusted Casks – Matured over the ocean itself. And in 2026, we released the sequel – world-first whiskymaking approach with an Oloroso twist.

And for a limited time only, we're giving all Members who refer a friend a 200ml bottle of Waubs Harbour Distiller’s Cut – and their friend will get a bottle too!

Just another reason to visit the whisky isle!
