What made us think it was a good idea to start a whisky distillery as 3 family members in our early 30s, 2.5 hours from anywhere? That’s a very good question.

We’d always loved the classic Scottish maritime whiskies but at the time, Tasmanian maritime whisky wasn’t even a thing. As far as we were concerned, challenge accepted.

For us, it was all about the whisky. It had to be great. We invested our own money and with a fire in our bellies and a very clear vision, we knew we were onto something great.

From launch night when we sold over 600 bottles in an hour and released our very first bottle via auction for $4800 going to the Great Southern Reef Foundation to today, where we continue to be blown away by the incredible, loyal community who have become true advocates and friends of Waubs.

This was the whisky we’d always wanted on our own whisky shelves and now, we know that was true for you too.
