Cigar & Port Royal whisky pairing

with Mark Teague from Whisky is my Jam

Not only a highly respected member of the Australian whisky community, Mark is a 4th generation tobacconist, with his family’s business, aptly named Teague’s, established in 1911.

Our foray into cigar and whisky pairing with Mark began at our first release launch event years ago when he arrived with celebratory cigars and has continued to evolve since. So, when we began discussing the idea of a Waubs Harbour cigar malt, it was only natural to have the man himself recommend the ultimate cigar pairing.



Mark’s take? “The Port finish, an exceptionally aged Port cask finish, I might add, is unmistakable with a lingering texture that makes it perfect for a traditional cigar malt pairing.

“Now what cigar might I reach for? Well, If I had a couple of hours to spare, I’d probably grab this impressive Esplendido sized Cuban. It’ll pack a punch, it’ll be powerful and you really do deserve spending the time to allow it to develop alongside the flavours of the malt.

“However, if time was pressing, I’d likely instead opt for this lovely Sumatran wrapped Nicaraguan offering in Petit Robusto size for when time matters.” @whiskyismyjam
