Laurie, the Cooper who re-coopers our barrels on-site, has just begun making us a custom cigar humidor to store and preserve the freshness & flavour of cigars here at the distillery.

When we first set out to create our maritime take on a cigar malt, Tim approached Laurie with the idea. He jumped at it.

Laurie has sourced incredibly rare Brazilian Mahogany, to be used to line the interior of the humidor, and a French Oak stave with a delicate, intricate grain for the exterior. A beautiful contrast between the rich colours of the wood.

This week, he’s begun running them through the Thicknesser and letting the wood settle before beginning to assemble the humidor next week.

A worthy home for our ever-growing cigar collection for when that moment (or the right whisky..) strikes.
